ethical fashion

Sustainable fashion, also called eco fashion, is a part of the growing design philosophy and trend of sustainability.

According to Earth Pledge, a non-profit organization committed to promoting and supporting sustainable development, “At least 8,000 chemicals are used to turn raw materials into textiles and 25% of the world’s pesticides are used to grow non-organic cotton. This causes irreversible damage to people and the environment, and still two thirds of a garment’s carbon footprint will occur after it is purchased.”

Ethos

At Pure Pod, we believe that sustainability is a journey to be undertaken as opposed to a destination reached. In the past fifty years, our collective understandings about the planet, and human influence upon it, has grown exponentially. It is often said that ‘today’s heresy is tomorrow’s orthodoxy’ and yet the opposite is equally true.

Our approach, on a collection-by-collection basis, is to integrate the latest understandings about sustainable fabrics – from garden to garment – and to continue to learn, grow and develop. Whilst we may all look back and recognise that our actions in the past may have been different based upon the information we have in the present, we are keenly concerned that we not make perfect the enemy of good.

We only have one Earth and we need to take care of it, not only for our generation, but for future generations of all species as well. At Pure Pod we take responsibility for our environmental footprint and support environmentally sustainable initiatives.
